Drop by Sarah's in the evenings beginning about 8 o'clock (ET) for some fun conversation with some really nice Mayberry folk. Any other time, check in here and at Sarah's for the chance that one of your Mayberry friends might be visiting.

USING JAVA CONFERENCE ROOM:
First you need to change your "nickname" to something you'd like. When you first enter the room, you'll show up as "TownsPerson???" where ??? is replaced by a number. After you type in your nickname, you can chat. Please keep in mind that this is a LARGE network of chatrooms so the "nickname" you choose could already be being used by someone on the network. If so, just keep trying new names until it lets you keep one.

Another way to change your nickname is to type the following:
 /nick <nickname>    (i.e. /nick MrMayberry)

You'll see a multi-colored set of boxes at the bottom right side of the chat screen. Just to the left of that is where you type in your comments. Just hit your "Return" button to send your comments to the room.

When you're finished chatting click "Disconnect" (or type "/part" and hit return) to be logged out of the room.

MORE INFORMATION

COLORS:
Those colored boxes will let you talk with colored text. Just right-click a "color" then type your text. Your font will be in that color.

If you right-click "yellow" then left-click "blue" the text you type will be yellow and the background will appear as blue. Any color combination will work.

BOLD:
To type with BOLD letters, hold your Ctrl key while pressing "B" on your keyboard. The following text will be bold.

mIRC Information for Getting into Sarah's

Your other option is to download the mIRC software from:
http://www.mirc.co.uk/

Download and install mIRC and then choose the following settings.

1) Open the mIRC program
2) Click on "File" and choose "Options" from the drop down menu
3) On the right of the window that opens there is a "down arrow" you can use to select which IRC server you would like to use. Click that "down arrow" and scroll down the list until you see "WyldeRyde: Random Server" and select that as your server.
(NOTE: Any of the WyldeRyde servers will work but the random setting will allow mIRC to choose the easiest one to connect to when you try to connect)
4) On this same window you will see an area to place your Name, Email, Nickname and an alternate Nickname. Fill these in and then click "Okay."
5) Click on "File" and choose "Connect" from the drop down list.
6) After mIRC connects, a window will pop up. At the top of that window it will say "Enter name of channel to join". Type the following:
#mayberrry
(After the first time you enter the #mayberry channel...the channel should appear in the list of channels and you can just scroll down and choose #mayberry from the list.)
7) That's it. You should now be in Sarah's and be able to talk all you'd like. You'll see a blinking line near the bottom of the chat window and you can just type and hit return to send your comments.

NOTE: You must already be connected to the internet when you run mIRC and "Connect" to the IRC server (step 5).

What is IRC, click here to find out. To download your very own IRC client software goto mIRC. It's a good one and a nice help file on mIRC can be found here.
