This is an interview I did with Jean “Hello Doll” Carson back on 26 June 1998 in Kingsport, TN.

Jean passed away on November 2, 2005 and she is greatly missed but continues to bring smiles to the faces of The Andy Griffith Show fans as Daphne (the “Fun Girl”) and convict Naomi Connors.

Jean’s love for the fans was sincere and that love was returned to her by all that had the chance to meet her.  I know you’ll enjoy the interview and the memories.

Rodney also talks about being on the set between shots and how The Andy Griffith Show was different than other shows on which they appeared.

Rodney tells us about things he’s been working on recently including his Mayberry Values in Todays World presentations across the country. This is a ministry that gives practical applications to what it means to be a Christian.

The discussion goes a good bit into this topic so take this as fair warning for anyone offended by frank discussion of walking through life as a  Christian.  I don’t believe that most listeners need that heads up but I felt like I should give one.  I’d love to hear from you about this topic and have a discussion however you feel.

In this episode discuss the influence that The Dillards had on artists such as The Eagles, The Byrds, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Dan Fogelberg, Linda Ronstadt, Elton John, Ricky Skaggs, and several other well known artist.

We discuss the way The Dillards were able to “push the envelop” with the music they played and how they were able to combine different styles of music into their music.

I believe you’ll hear things that many fans of The Andy Griffith Show haven’t heard about our Darling boys and hopefully you’ll understand and be even more thankful for the artist who are The Dillards on a different level.
