It has been several weeks since we last listened to the feedback sent in by your fellow listeners so tonight we'll be diving into that. You may notice that the title is only "Feedback Episode" with no number. I did that in honor of Barney Fife because the last feedback episode we had was number twelve....so being cautious...I'm not numbering this episode.

We have feedback about the Darling boys, Mitch Jayne, Good Ole 14-A, and Don Knotts. We have some fun and interesting items included in the comments so sit back and enjoy the show!

The audio is a bit hard to hear and you will heard glasses clinking and laughter of those in attendance. I hope you can enjoy what you can hear as it certainly is rare audio and I wanted to share it with you.

Don't forget to leave comments or ask questions on the TwoChairsNoWaiting.com (http://TwoChairsNoWaiting.com/) website or using the contact information given in the podcast. Many of you might remember Don Knotts appearing on The New Scooby-Doo Movies aired back in 1972 and in reruns every since. He was on two different "movies" that year and it was easy to tell that the cartoon character was Don Knotts.

There's a new cartoon called "Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated" that just started last week and the first episode was titled "Beware the Beast from Below." I mention this because the crowd at the beginning of the episode had standing there, front and center, the Don Knotts character from back in the 1970's.

Several folks responded to our last episode about the "king" of whistlers, Fred Lowery. If you didn't hear lasts weeks show (#87), you may want to go back and give it a listen before this episode. We'll talk a bit more about who exactly it was that whistled the theme of The Andy Griffith Show and theories about why people believe that Mr. Lowery was that whistler.

We'll also be talking a bit about Mayberry Days held the last full weekend of September in Andy Griffith's hometown Mt. Airy, NC. It's certainly a sight to behold and I encourage you to attend Mayberry Days if you have a chance. It's gooooood!

If you can't attend, there are other events related to Mayberry and you can learn about them by going to the "Event Calendar" link at Mayberry.com. Try and make plans to visit one of these events and support folks that are trying to bring a little bit of Mayberry to your corner of the world.

Who was "the whistler?" What am I talking about....well, there have been reports for years of folks saying "the guy who whistled the theme to The Andy Griffith Show came to my school when I was young." The name most associated with that statement is Fred Lowery. We talk tonight about the who it was that actually whistled the theme.

The links below will give you so wonderful references about Fred Lowery who is known to many as the "King of Whistlers." He was a famous whistler back in the 1940's and 1950's.

I've been getting a good bit of listener comments and questions over the last several weeks so I thought I would try and run through some of them this week.

I don't pretend to be an expert in all things Mayberry so I may not have the answer to all the questions. Hopefully you will be able to help me where I fall short on being able to provide what your fellow listeners are asking for. Feel free to drop me a voice mail to let us all hear the answers you can provide.

Answers or not...let's have some Mayberry fun in tonight's show.

There was recently an online chapter meeting of the "Who's Been Messin' Up the Bulletin Board (WBMUTBB)?" Chapter of The Andy Griffith Show Rerun Watchers Club. As part of that meeting, chapter members discussed what Don Knotts had meant to them as we drew close to the 4th anniversary of his passing away back on February 24, 2006.

In order of appearance you will hear from WBMUTBB? members "Aunt Bee (of IL)", Mike Peacock, Jewell Kutzer, Ron "Emmett" Blankenship, MariEllen, and Vicki Pillow. These wonderful Mayberry fans share what many of us feel and enjoy as we watch the performances of Mr. Knotts.

We also have a voice mail and some e-mail listener feedback for you to enjoy.

Don't forget to leave comments or ask questions on the Mayberry.com/podcasts/ (http://mayberry.com/podcasts/) website or using the contact information given in the podcast. (If you'd like to call toll-free, I only give that number as part of the podcast so you'll have to listen to hear that number. )

Do you ever have conversations with fellow Andy Griffith Show fans that ONLY another fan would understand or enjoy? Well, I do and I ran across one such exchange recently and I believe it will be something that you, as a Mayberry fan, will enjoy hearing about.

The conversation you'll hear about was between The Andy Griffith Show Rerun Watchers Club (TAGSRWC) Presiding Goober Jim Clark, the members of The Schumpsters, The Mayberry Texans, and Mother Figure chapters.

We also hear from some listeners about episode #66. We'd love to hear from you, too so...don't forget to leave comments or ask questions on the Mayberry.com/podcasts (../../podcasts) website or using the contact information given in the podcast. We'll be talking about The Andy Griffith Show episode The Bookie Barber this week and we'll hear some feedback from your fellow listeners.

What got me thinking about The Bookie Barber was the current episode (#67) of the Burke on Mayberry podcast in which that episode was the topic. Kevin Burke, the host, did a fun review of the episode and I thought it would be nice tie in to tell you folks about some strange and curious happenings in Mayberry during that episode.

I hope you enjoy that as well as the feedback about past Two Chairs episodes from listeners.

Hello Mayberry! Thanks for joining us for Two Chairs Now Waiting. I want to thank Floyd for hosting the show last week for me. Thank you as well for the positive feedback, all three of them, hahah....about Floyd's Mayberry Memories.

Let me pull back the curtains a little bit about the stories Floyd told last episode and make sure you know that each of them was a *true* story. They all really happened. The names were changed to protect the innocent but they were true none the less.

We have voice mail, e-mail and some of our listeners favorite quotes.

Thank you for listening. Tell your Mayberry friends about us and don't forget to leave comments or ask questions on the Mayberry.com/podcasts (http://Mayberry.com/podcasts) website or by using the contact information given in the podcast. We'd love to have you be a part of our next feedback episode.

E-MAILS
FROM: Joe
I just posted to following to iTunes...

I thoroughly enjoy listening to your podcast and eagerly await each new episode. Your podcast captures the spirit of Mayberry and reminds me to act like a Mayberrian no matter where I find myself.

I am writing because I wanted to go a little further in email to say how wonderful I think it is you were presented the flag from Paul Balmer. Not only was it flown for nine hours and eleven minutes in honor of one day of infamy, but it was also flown on December 7, another day of infamy. How appropriate to recognize TAGS and your podcast in this way. Our soldiers are fighting for a way of life and values espoused in TAGS. May we never take their sacrifices lightly or worse, forget what they do for our world. It is because of them that we can have our way of life, and as TAGS fans it should be our goal to act like a Mayberrian no matter if we live in a small town like mine (with one 4-way stop) or a city as large as New York.

Keep up the good work.
Joe

FROM: Mayor Pike

I think it's amazing that the spirit of Mayberry can bring some joy to our men and women heroes in Afghanistan. Ernest T. was right when he said "can't do enough for our boys in khaki". Thanks so much to Paul and all of them as they serve. I pray they all come home safely. And, I'm sure the Milo boys would be proud, too.

The new “Two Chairs No Waiting” Mayberry podcast is outstanding!

Episode 13 (6 Jan 09) is about Franklin Canyon (Myers Lake). I'm not sure if folks will enjoy it but if not...there's always next week if they don't. :)

Allan, I enjoyed it. I remember the photos you took with Adam the time you visited there. I would LOVE someday to go there myself. I may never get there (since I live in the Midwest), but if I do, at least I have directions and know where to go! I also like the way you mentioned the railing where Andy stood in one episode and how you tied that in with "Return to Mayberry." I like to know trivial trivialities like that. :-)

(Thelma Lou)

From: Scott (Actually written to Burk on Mayberry podcast )

Dr. Burke,
I received an iPodTouch for Christmas this year so I've just recently discovered Podcasts. I've been enjoying yours, Burk on Mayberry, and the "Two Chairs No Waiting" podcast very much. I'm almost done listening to the 32 episodes (of Burk on Mayberry) that you have posted.....

The behind the scenes stories have been great.

Thanks for all of your work
Scott

SPECIAL E-mail
From: Liza Jane about OPIE CATES
I was reading about my grandpa, Opie Cates, online and came across your website. A lady asked a question about where the name Opie came from and was is short for anything. I can answer both questions. First Opie came from Opie Cates the band leader, you are correct. Second, the name was not short for anything. His full name was Opie Taft Cates. I hope this helps. Please contact us if you have any other questions.
Sincerely,
Liza Jane

Mike Peacock of the "Who's Been Messin' Up the Bulletin Board?" Chapter provides us with a little more insight into why Elinor Donahue left TAGS after only one season.

Robbie Curlee gives us some behind the scenes information about a near meeting with/sighting of Andy Griffith in Mt. Airy, NC.

We have ONE rating on iTunes but there are only 11 subscribers using iTunes so that's 9% . "Fife" gave us a 5 star rating and I'm thankful for that. We'd love to have more ratings so if you're one of the 11 subscribers using iTunes go give us a good rating and a review.

Janet who goes by Thelma Lou on the WBMUTBB Digest had this to say about episode 11: I especially enjoyed your most recent podcast with the interview with Elinor Donahue (though I listen to and enjoy all of them). And adding "Away in a Manger" at the end was the perfect touch!

Chief Master-At-Arms Paul Balmer presented to me on behalf of the fans of The Andy Griffith Show and of this podcast a flag that was actually flown over the Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan. This is BIG for me and I believe it will be to you, the listener, as well. Paul and the troops serving with him are in our prayers. Thank you, Paul, for this great honor.
